FileOutpost is a website that allows users to upload large files to share easily on the web. Currently files up to 250 MB can be uploaded and will remain on the server for up to 2 weeks after the last download.
This site was build using BlueDragon ColdFusion with MySQL as a back end database. Even though I found some scripts that could do progress bars for uploading in PHP we found a flash script to do the progress bar. The other couple points that made this site unique is how the file download structure is dynamic, in that the physical directory doesn't exist. The other was coming up with a way to store files if the site grew very quickly without exceeding the windows limitations for number of files in a directory. This was done which turned out to be similar to Wikipedia by storing the uploaded files in a 2 or more tiered system.
